Servers: Throughout the years I have been working with a number of models of servers. It started with white box custom built servers. Since then I have worked on servers from both Dell and HP. I have worked with Tower and Rack mount servers both with included hard drive cages as well as expanding hard drive cages. In the years I have spent working with servers I have found that HP is usually my preferred brand because they do a better job of both building and supporting their equipment. That being said Dell isn’t as far behind as so many people’s biases believe it to be.
Desktops: I started off on building my own desktops around 2003 for both myself and family. I have continued to do that for my gaming rigs however for business uses I have worked on HP, Dell, and Lenovo desktops. Currently I am working with the ultra small form factor systems that thanks to the new CPU technology out recently that doesn’t need near as much airflow to keep the CPU cool as they older models used to.
Networking Equipment: My primary training has been with Cisco networking equipment. I have completed all of the CCNA courses available through College of DuPage a certified Cisco Learning Academy. Those include standard CCNA, CCNA Security, CCNA wireless, and CCNA Voice. After completing the courses I worked in a multi site Cisco based environment with a Cisco WLC and Cisco ASAs for a number of years. Since then I have worked with Cisco, and HP switches, Cisco routers, APs, and ASAs, Watchguard Firewalls and APs, Meraki APs, and D-Link switches and APs. I have found through continued exposure to different hardware that knowing Cisco is a great way to easily be able to adapt to equipment from other manufacturers.
